FAQ

FAQ

How do the hazmat chemistry books compare with general chemistry books?

All three of the hazmat chemistry books are geared for emergency responders and reflect what emergency responders are taught in Hazardous Materials Technician training programs. While there is a lot of overlap with what is taught in general chemistry classes, the emphasis is on preparing emergency responders to assess and safely manage a chemical emergency or terrorist event.

Do the hazmat chemistry books reflect what is taught nationwide?

Classes may vary nationwide, but hazmat chemistry doesn’t change. The books provide a solid overview of hazmat chemistry, applicable nationwide.

Can the hazmat chemistry books be used as textbooks?

Some customers use the Hazmat Chemistry Study Guide as a textbook, although that was not the intent of the book and it’s not how the book is marketed. This book was intended as a study guide to supplement existing hazmat chemistry courses.

The Hazmat Chemistry Mini Review and The Hazmat Chemistry Pocket Pal are not thorough enough to be used as textbooks, but they provide an excellent review of the main concepts.

Which hazmat chemistry book will best meet my needs?

If you are taking a hazmat chemistry class, the Hazmat Chemistry Study Guide is the best book for preparing you for the final exam. If you can correctly answer the sample questions in the study guide, you should do well on your test in class. The Hazmat Chemistry Study Guide is the only one of the three books with sample test questions.

The Hazmat Chemistry Mini Review is more concise than the Hazmat Chemistry Study Guide, making it a great refresher for last-minute studying before the test. It was designed with large type and graphics on every page to make for quick reading.

The Hazmat Chemistry Pocket Pal is more concise than the Hazmat Chemistry Study Guide, but more detailed than The Hazmat Chemistry Mini Review. It was geared for both field use and last-minute studying before a test.

Are the hazmat chemistry books available as eBooks?

No, not at this time.
